MEDIA RELEASE

For immediate release – October 22, 2021

The Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation welcomes Jim Kennelly to its Board of Directors 2021/22.  In considering Jim for a board member role, The Learning Foundation was already aware that his expertise and years of invaluable experience would be a definite asset.

Jim Kennelly has worked in education from 1973 to 2003 as a teacher in the Metropolitan Toronto separate school board and then on to the local Catholic School Board in Belleville, and its successor Board at ALCDSB. He has been a teacher, consultant, vice-principal and principal, to name a few.

After retiring, Jim held a Vice-Principal role and was also involved in supply teaching engagements.

For eight years, Jim served as the school Trustee representing Belleville for ALCDSB.  During that time, he served for one year as vice-chair and another year as Chair. During those years, Jim served as the ALCDSB’s representative on the Food for Learning Committee, of which he is now Chair.  Jim chose not to run again for Trustee, but rather to become one of the Directors on the Hastings County Historical Society.

Jim has given talks on the Quinte Genealogical Society, Hastings County Historical Society, Seventh Town Historical Society, and the Tweed Historical Society.

Jim recounts one of his passions during his academic career was giving workshops on Positive Classroom Discipline.  Jim remains interested in local history, genealogy, gardening, curling, golf, and memoir writing.  Jim’s wife, Sandra, was a former teacher in the HPEDSB. Together, they have raised four daughters and now have twelve grandchildren to help in contributing to their active lifestyle.

The HPE Learning Foundation Board of Directors look forward to sharing Jim’s voice and expertise to contribute further to the success and vision of the Learning Foundation and its vital programs.
