Belleville, ON — November 06, 2025 — The Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation is thrilled to announce that Quinte Hearing Centre is lending its voice—and its generosity—to the Have You Heard campaign with a major fundraising commitment.

Owner Maxine Armstrong and her team have set a goal to raise $20,000 to help equip local classrooms with sound field amplification systems. These systems distribute a teacher’s voice evenly throughout the classroom, ensuring that every student—no matter where they sit—can hear instruction clearly.

To help them reach their goal, Quinte Hearing Centre will donate $100 for every pair of hearing aids purchased between now and the end of the 2024–2025 school year at each of their location Belleville, Picton, Tweed and Napanee.

“We see firsthand how important sound is to learning, focus, and connection,” says Maxine Armstrong, Owner and Hearing Instrument Specialist at Quinte Hearing Centre. “When I heard about the Have You Heard campaign, I immediately wanted to help. On any given day, over 40% of primary students would fail a basic hearing test. Sound fields help every child—not just those with hearing challenges—stay engaged and understand their teacher clearly.”

The Have You Heard campaign, led by the Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation, aims to install sound field systems in classrooms across the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board. Each system costs about $2,000 and has been shown to improve student attention, participation, and academic success.

“We’re incredibly grateful to Maxine and the Quinte Hearing Centre team for their commitment,” says Jenn Barrett, Resource Development Coordinator at The Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation. “Their support will help more students hear every word, every lesson, and every opportunity.”
