For immediate release on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, Belleville, ON –
The Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation is excited for a fresh new start!
The Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation welcomes Jenn Barrett in the newly created Resource Development & Communications Coordinator role. With her, Jenn brings over fifteen years fundraising experience to The Hastings Prince Edward Learning Foundation, starting on August 21, 2023.
Previously working with the Canadian Cancer Society, The Belleville General Hospital Foundation, and most recently on the newly opened Field of Ability, Barrett continues to focus on organizations and projects that help to build a better community. “The future of any community lays within our youth” says Barrett, “and I am extremely excited to focus my time and efforts on the students in our community to help ensure that they have every opportunity to be successful in life”.
Ms. Barrett is pleased to join the already seasoned team at The Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation. Working alongside Operations Manager, Kellie Brace, Vicky Struthers, Program Coordinator and Cherie Hardie, Procurement & Logistics Coordinator, the new role will allow a stronger focus on fundraising for the Foundation to ensure that they are able to meet the growing needs of the students in our communities.
“A new team is not the only change you will see coming out of the Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation in the 2023/2024 school year” says Board Chair, Geoff Cudmore. “A new Strategic Plan is underway, new branding, new events, and a fresh new look at how we do business to ensure future success”. says Cudmore. “We have an exciting year ahead that will allow us to build on past successes, and plan for future needs of the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board.
“We encourage everyone to keep their eyes and ears open to The Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation right now” says Operations Manager, Kellie Brace. “Watching the hpelearningfoundation.com website, and socials is sure to be an exciting way to learn about the ways in which people can become informed and involved in our programs and events.”
The Learning Foundation provides programs and resources that enhance student learning, well-being and achievement. Current programs include the following:
• Student Nutrition Programs, through Food for Learning, serves over 1,000,000 meals and snacks each school year.
• Student Emergency Fund, which provides emergency support to students and their families. During this school year, an estimated 300 requests for support, valued at approximately $50,000, will be granted.
• Sharing Cupboards at all secondary schools, where students access food and household supplies to take home, no questions asked. Programs are available to all students and aim to remove barriers in a non-stigmatizing way to help students actively participate in all aspects of school.
