The Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation (HPELF) is a registered charity that provides programs and
resources that enhance student learning, well-being and achievement. We believe that all students should have
the support they need to overcome barriers and realize success so that they can actively participate in their school
life. Current programs offered by HPELF include Food for Learning, the Student Emergency Fund, and Sharing
Cupboards.
JOB FUNCTION
Coordinate all functions related to Food for Learning and Student Emergency Fund programs of The Hastings
and Prince Edward Learning Foundation.
JOB DUTIES
Student Nutrition Programs (Food for Learning)
• Support schools to implement, maintain or expand student nutrition programs in schools
throughout Hastings and Prince Edward counties, .and ensure all funded program sites adhere to
eligibility criteria outlined by Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS).
• Develop and implement annual training and orientation program, creating strategies to share
knowledge and resources with program volunteers/school staff, to ensure consistency and
accuracy of program administration. This will include regular updates to resources available on
Food for Learning (FFL) website, monthly newsletter, regular site visits.
• Provide information and instruction regarding provincial reporting requirements and data collection
methods, monitor submissions, and follow up where reporting is outstanding.
• Analysis of program data to determine where additional support is need, identify trends in program
impact and outcomes, and identify gaps in program delivery.
• Build partnerships with other local, regional and provincial SNP Community Development Coordinators
across the province to share effective practices.
Student Emergency Fund
• Receive and communicate decisions of Student Emergency Fund Requests, based on established guidelines
and program criteria
• Participate in strategies that will raise awareness of the Student Emergency Fund among HPEDSB staff.
• Prepare reports identifying trends, needs, gaps in delivery of the Student Emergency Fund program.
• Process payments to schools
Other
• Support fundraising activities at the local level to support the sustainability of programs. Participate in all
HPELF special event planning and implementation.
• Provide support to the Procurement and Logistics Coordinator to implement procurement
strategies/approaches in schools and community locations as required.
• Participate on various committees, as assigned by supervisor, such as Food for Learning Steering
Committee, Southeast Ontario Student Nutrition Program Advisory Committee and Community
Partnership Committees, Golf Tournament Committee.
• Take minutes at meetings as required.
• Maintain, update and plan content for the HPELF and Food for Learning websites and social media, with
support from the Resource Development & Communications Coordinator,
• Perform other job related duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
• Post secondary education in a related field.
• Experience working in the non-profit sector.
• Ability to organize, plan and implement appropriate activities to further organizational and program goals.
• Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent
communication with members, staff and volunteers
• Excellent written communication skills; strong oral communication skills
• Experience in maintaining active social media platforms
• Efficient in Microsoft or Google applications
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Effective time management, multi tasking and flexibility
• Experience using Word Press is an asset
• French language an asset
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle a must
• Presents a positive and professional image for the organization
Hourly wage: $27.75/hour
