BELLEVILLE – Every coin dropped into a parking meter this holiday season will go toward helping a local child get the nutrition they need to excel in the classroom.
The Feed the Meter campaign was launched this week and drivers in Picton, Belleville and Quinte West would be surprised to hear how each coin dropped in a meter has accumulated into a mass contribution to the charitable cause.
“This is the ninth season of the Feed the Meter campaign and in eight years we’ve raised over $238,000,” said Maribeth deSnoo, executive director of The Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation. “Last year we served well over a million meals and snacks to over 13,000 students in our program.”
